Congratulations to our joint winners for the month of February–Logan and Brent. They both practiced 500 minutes during the month. Great job guys!
The Practice Minutes contest has been hugely successful in encouraging our piano students to practice. However, it has come to our attention that since a couple of students are home schooled, they often have more free time to practice. Also, a couple of students are much more advanced and have longer songs to practice which makes it easier for them to get higher numbers when practicing as opposed to beginner pianists with songs that are sometimes no more than 30 seconds long. Therefore, in a spirit of fairness, we will be discontinuing the Practice Minutes contest.
Piano students should continue to aim for a minimum of 20 minutes of practice at least 5 days per week even if some time is spent reviewing old pieces or practicing scales. We are working on a new idea for a contest–but one that will be fair to all students no matter how advanced or how or where they attend school.
Thanks for understanding and for all the hard work pianists!
